Today, the BBC comedy Asylum makes its US debut via the Acorn TV streaming service. The series takes the hypothetical situation of what would it be like if Julian Assange and Kim Dotcom were roommates while living in asylum in a foreign embassy. Dan Hern (Ben Miller, Death in Paradise, The Worst Week of My Life) is a whistleblower who leaked the CIA’s torture manual online for the public to see. For the past year, he has been living in asylum in the London embassy of the Latin American nation of the Democratic Republic of El Rico. While the U.S. government and MI6 are still constantly plotting ways to lure Hern out of the building to be arrested/executed for treason, Ambassador Castillo (Darrell D’Silva, Game of Thrones) is afraid that Hern’s celebrity has faded. So Castillo has his children, Rafael (Kayvan Novak, Thunderbirds Are Go) & Rosa (Yasmine Akram, Sherlock) find a fresh new face to offer asylum to in order to get their country back in the news. Enter the loud, obnoxious, but kind-hearted Ludo Backslash (Dustin Demri-Burns), a hacker responsible for releasing thousands of pirated films across the internet. Last week Linda was excited for some mother-daughter bonding after she volunteered to be a chaperone for Tina’s weekend away at a heroine conference (not THAT kind of heroin, and yes, that joke was made on the episode!). However, Tina wanted to room with a new friend she just made, instead of her mother. Tonight, Disney Channel launches the new series Tangled: The Series, a follow-up to the hit 2010 animated feature film, with Mandy Moore (This Is Us) & Zachary Levi (Chuck) reprising their roles as Rapunzel & Eugene Fitzherbert. A couple weeks ago, Disney Channel aired an hour-long TV movie, Tangled Before Ever After, which followed the events of the film and set things up for the series. Princess Rapunzel, who had become a short-haired brunette by the end of the film, was deeply in love with Eugene but wanted to take some time to enjoy their relationship before getting married. However, her parents still wanted to keep her locked up in the castle, safe from the dangers of the world. One night she sneaked out of the castle with her lady-in-waiting, Cassandra (Eden Espinosa), and came across some magical rock spires that caused her ridiculously long blonde hair to grow back, which Rapunzel desperately tried to hide from her parents. The next day, Rapunzel’s coronation was interrupted by the rogue Lady Kane, who was out for revenge on the royal family. However, Rapunzel was able to use her extremely versatile new hair to save the day, along with help from Eugene and his frying pan and Cassandra and her sword skills...
