Tonight, Bates Motel returns for the start of its fifth and final season on A&E. As the fourth season came to a close, Norman had gone full-on Psycho, blocking up the furnace vents in order to try to kill himself and his mother via carbon monoxide. Romero happened to stop by the house shortly afterwards and tried to save them, but it was too late for Norma. Norman had left a suicide note from Norma, but Romero figured out what must have really happened. He had a gun ready and was planning to kill Norman but was arrested for perjury, which delayed those plans. After the funeral, Norman dug up his mother’s body and brought it back home, but he still seemed confused and hadn’t really accepted that Norma is actually dead...

Tonight, CBS is giving viewers a look at the premiere of the new The Good Wife spin-off series, The Good Fight, before the CBS All Access original series becomes exclusively available on the network’s paid streaming service. The series picks up one year after the events of The Good Wife series finale. Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski, The Good Wife) is working as a named partner at a huge Chicago law firm but is already looking forward to her upcoming retirement in Provence. NBC’s Superstore is always one of the highlights of my Thursday night TV watching. Last week it was Valentine’s Day at Cloud 9, and Amy and Glenn tried to play matchmaker for Myrtle, but their attempts to set her up with another elderly employee resulted in a sexual harassment investigation. Meanwhile, Garrett learned about Mateo’s secret relationship with Jeff and tried to push his jealousy over Sandra’s pretend relationship to the boiling point. And Jonah went undercover to help Dina catch a shoplifter, but he ended up falling for his mark. So Dina made sure to burn that potential relationship to the ground by pretending that Jonah was the deadbeat father to her children.
