My Pick of the Week is an easy one, though it will not be available at your local retailer or favorite e-tailer. Today, Warner Bros. Home Video is releasing Pac-Man: The Complete First Season as part of their Made-To-Order DVD program. While it would have been nice to get a Complete Series or an actual retail release, I am thrilled that this 1980’s cartoon series based on the popular video game is finally coming to DVD! This 2-disc set contains all 13-episodes of the first season.
I loved this show as a kid. Every Saturday morning, I couldn’t wait to watch the latest adventures of Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Baby Pac-Man, along with their pets Chomp Chomp and Sour Puss. Each week Pac-Man had to stop some threat against Pac-land from Mezmaron and his Ghost Monster minions Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Sue. It has been so long since I’ve seen this show, I can’t wait to see it again!
Also hitting the shelves this week is a taste of the new HD-remastered episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. While I wouldn’t normally recommend a “best of” type release, I’m really excited to see how STTNG looks in High-Def! Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Next Level gives us a glimpse of the newly-remasted episodes, bringing together the feature-length pilot, “Encounter At Farpoint”, along with two more episodes, “Sins Of The Father” and “The Inner Light”. After years of low-def or upconverted reruns, it will be great to see how the show looks and sounds completely remastered from the original sources.
