BURBANK, Calif. October 19, 2026 – Warner Bros. Home Entertainment today announced Tex Avery: The Definitive Screwball Classics Collection, the most comprehensive home entertainment release ever dedicated to legendary animator Tex Avery. Arriving on Blu-ray™ on December 11, 2026 as part of the Warner Archive Collection, this landmark four-disc set brings together every animated short Avery created during his celebrated tenure at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, presented in their original uncut and uncensored form. The collection will be available from online retailers, including Amazon, GRUV, and other e-tailers.

Widely regarded as one of animation’s greatest innovators, Tex Avery revolutionized the cartoon medium with his rapid-fire pacing, surreal visual gags, fourth-wall-breaking humor, and irreverent storytelling. Tex Avery: The Definitive Screwball Classics Collection showcases the complete breadth of Avery’s creative brilliance, offering audiences the opportunity to experience these groundbreaking shorts as they were originally intended.

Featuring 74 theatrical shorts presented chronologically from 1942 through 1958, the collection includes Avery’s complete M-G-M filmography, along with ten beloved Droopy cartoons directed by fellow Metro filmmakers. From unforgettable sight gags and outrageous transformations to some of the most iconic characters in animation history, this definitive anthology celebrates the enduring legacy of a creator whose influence continues to be felt across generations of animation and comedy. The set is intended for adult collectors.

Animation’s Most Iconic Characters
The collection features a lineup of legendary characters that helped define Avery’s unmistakable style, including:

• Droopy, the deceptively calm and slow-moving Basset Hound whose deadpan delivery and unlikely victories made him one of animation’s most enduring stars.
• The Wolf, the eye-popping, howling embodiment of Avery’s exaggerated comedic sensibility, best known for his unforgettable appearances in classics such as Red Hot Riding Hood.
• Red, the glamorous nightclub performer whose presence sparked chaos and comedic mayhem throughout Avery’s most celebrated cartoons.
• Screwy Squirrel, the unpredictable fourth-wall-breaking troublemaker created to parody traditional cartoon stars.
• George and Junior, the lovable comedy duo whose mismatched personalities generated endless laughs.
• Spike the Bulldog, the gruff and determined foil whose elaborate schemes often hilariously backfired.

For animation enthusiasts, collectors, and fans of classic comedy, Tex Avery: The Definitive Screwball Classics Collection delivers the ultimate celebration of one of the medium’s most inventive and influential creators, preserving a body of work that forever changed the art of animation.
