I haven’t made any picks in the past few weeks because there haven’t been a lot of mainstream shows being released on DVD and Blu-Ray. However, this week, I’m back, and I have already pre-ordered my copy of Being Human: The Complete First Season. This is the SyFy channel version of the UK series of the same name.
 
The series follows the lives of a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost who live together in an apartment. While this premise may sound like the start of a bad joke, the show is much more of a sci-fi drama, with comedic elements. This first season of the US series takes many of the elements that appeared in the first 3 seasons of the UK series, while adding a few of their own plot twists and storylines. While the UK series will always be the true Being Human to me, I have enjoyed the US take on the material. The series is a great sci-fi blend of drama, action and comedy. I am looking forward to the upcoming second season coming to the SyFy channel in January.
