HBO & Max to present Screenings & Conversations
for Julio Torres’ “Fantasmas,” “Industry” Season 3,
and “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School”

March 27, Austin, Texas: ATX TV Festival has announced additional programming for Season 13, taking place May 30-June 2, 2024, in Austin, Texas.

The new additions will feature a track of screenings & conversations from HBO and Max, including the World Premiere of HBO’s Fantasmas from creator, star, and director Julio Torres (Problemista, Los Espookys), followed by a conversation with Torres. In Fantasmas, Torres “tells the tale of when he lost a golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it and the musings he has along the way become points of departure for little films, as Torres navigates weaving in and out of these introspective, often eerie comedic stories.” The series will premiere this summer on HBO and Max.

HBO’s critically-acclaimed drama series Industry, which follows a group of young bankers navigating the world of high finance, will screen its Season 3 premiere episode at the Festival, followed by a conversation with creators/writers/directors/executive producers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, and star Myha’la Herrold (additional cast TBC). As bankers Harper, Yasmin, and Robert (Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela, and Harry Lawtey) continue to forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sex and drug fueled blitz of international banking, in Season 3, Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing. Yasmin, Robert, and Eric (Ken Leung) find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Henry Muck (Kit Harington) — in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media, and government. Season 3 of Industry debuts on HBO and will be available to stream on Max later this year (date TBA).

Max will host a screening and Q&A for Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, the follow-up to Season 1 of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, which finds the ‘Liars’ “facing a fate worse than death: summer school,” as well as “a new villain (who may or may not have a connection to A).” Fans will get an advance look at a new episode, followed by a conversation with the creatives and cast. Panelists will be announced soon.

Season 13 of the Festival will also include:

• Fargo Screening and Conversation with Noah Hawley — Peabody and Emmy^® Award-winning storyteller Noah Hawley will join for a screening of Fargo Installment 5, Episode 1 (“The Tragedy of the Commons,” written and directed by Hawley) followed by a conversation about the latest critically-acclaimed installment, starring Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, and Jennifer Jason Leigh; the FX Emmy^®-Award winning anthology’s unprecedented 10-year run (thus far); and how Hawley is building and growing his Austin-based production banner, 26 Keys.
• “Adventures in Indie TV” with Duplass Brothers Productions — Creator, writer, director, actor, and producer Mark Duplass (Room 104, Togetherness) and writer, director, and producer Mel Eslyn (Penelope, Room 104) will join for a conversation about the present and future of Independently made television, and their collaborations under Duplass Brothers Productions.
• “The Art of World-Building” presented by Sony Pictures Television — A craft-focused look at building the immersive worlds of For All Mankind, Twisted Metal, The Wheel of Time, Justified: City Primeval, and Gen V, with the artists behind the scenes. Confirmed panelists include costume designers Esther Marquis (For All Mankind) and Sharon Gilham (The Wheel of Time), production designers Seth Reed (For All Mankind) and Victoria Paul (Twisted Metal), cinematographer John Lindley (Justified: City Primeval), and makeup department head/puppeteer Colin Penman (Gen V).
• Girls5eva Karaoke Night presented by Universal Studio Group — USG will treat fans of the musical comedy (and music in general) to Girls5eva Karaoke Night with creator/executive producer Meredith Scardino, featuring fan-favorite tunes from Seasons 1-3, go-to karaoke classics, photo opps, exclusive Girls5eva swag, and more.

  All three seasons of Girls5eva are currently available to stream on Netflix. From Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and executive produced by Meredith Scardino, Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond, Kimmy Gatewood, the series stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell.

• “The History of TV” presented by RCA — A conversation exploring the history of television over 100+ years of RCA, from the birth of broadcasting, to the founding of NBC, to the first color TV, and beyond. Confirmed panelists include Tony Bozzini (President, Established Inc.) and Tim Sarnoff (former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Technicolor and grandson of the iconic leader of RCA, David Sarnoff), with more to be announced at a later date.
• Hotel Cocaine Screening and Q&A — The festival will host a screening of the premiere episode of MGM+’s new crime thriller Hotel Cocaine, from creator and executive producer Chris Brancato (Godfather of Harlem, Narcos). The eight-episode series follows Cuban exile and hotel manager Roman Compte (Danny Pino) as he oversees the Mutiny Hotel, “the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of late ‘70s and early ‘80s… frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians.” The screening will be followed by a conversation with Brancato, and cast members Danny Pino (Mayans M.C.) and Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains).
