BLOODLANDS, ACORN TV’S GRITTY IRISH CRIME THRILLER STARRING JAMES NESBITT, RETURNS FEBRUARY 6


NEW YORK – January 27, 2023 – Screeners are now available for the second season of Acorn TV’s Original gritty Irish crime thriller, BloodlandsStarring award-winning Irish actor James Nesbitt (The Missing, Cold Feet) as DCI Tom Brannick, this gripping 6-episode season follows Brannick as he’s pulled into a desperate hunt for a treasure that’s been hidden since the dark days of Goliath. Bloodlands Season 2 will premiere on Monday, February 6 with the first two episodes, followed by two episodes per week on Mondays through February 20 on Acorn TV, AMC Networks’ acclaimed streamer devoted to British and international television.

This season DCI Tom Brannick (Nesbitt) returns as the murder of a crooked accountant unravels a trail of greed that threatens to expose the true identity of the legendary assassin codenamed Goliath. Between Tom and redemption stands the accountant’s widow, Olivia (Victoria Smurfit), whose intentions may be far from innocent. They will scheme together, keeping each other in knife point’s reach, as they try to solve the riddle the accountant left behind. As they become more immersed in the puzzle of each other, Tom and Olivia will draw in Tom’s fellow officers DS Niamh McGovern (Charlene McKenna, Ripper Street), DCS Jackie Twomey (Lorcan Cranitch, Cracker) and DC “Birdy” Bird (Chris Walley), as well as his daughter, Izzy (Lola Pettigrew), until deceit and betrayal build to a shattering climax.

Bloodlands’ executive producers are award-winning showrunner Jed Mercurio (creator and producer of two of UK’s highest-rated dramas, Bodyguard and Line of Duty), Jimmy Mulville (Episodes) and Mark Redhead (The Secret, Bloody Sunday) for HTM Television and Tommy Bulfin and Tom Lazenby for the BBC. It was recommissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama and Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer.

 

EPISODE DESCRIPTIONS:

Season 2 Premiere
Episode 1 (Monday, February 6):
The killing of a local accountant leads DCI Tom Brannick (James NesbittThe Missing, Cold Feet) and his partner DS Niamh McGovern (Charlene McKennaRipper Street) into a web of intrigue surrounding the accountant’s widow Olivia Foyle (Victoria SmurfitOnce Upon A Time).

Episode 2 (Monday, February 6):
A raid on an abandoned house uncovers the hiding place of Robert Dardis. Tom (James Nesbitt, The Missing, Cold Feet) is forced to use drastic measures to find the whereabouts of the gold.

Episode 3 (Monday, February 13):
Tom (James Nesbitt, The Missing, Cold Feet) and Olivia (Victoria Smurfit, Once Upon A Time) work together outside the official police investigation, as their search for gold forges a most unsavory alliance.

Episode 4 (Monday, February 13):
With the origins of the gold confirmed, an American gangster arrives in Dunfolan to take back what is his and Birdy makes a shocking discovery.

Episode 5 (Monday, February 20):
Tom (James Nesbitt, The Missing, Cold Feet) is forced to deal with the killer in order to stay in the hunt for the gold, but a revelation from Izzy threatens to knock him off course.

Season 2 Finale
Episodes 6 (Monday, February 20):
Tom (James Nesbitt, The Missing, Cold Feet) falters on the tightrope of his police investigation and his illicit pursuit of the murder weapon and the gold, as it all threatens to come tumbling down.
