What’s Coming in September To Prime Video and Amazon Freevee

The journey begins this September! The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tells the story of Middle-earth’s Second Age, set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books. Beginning in a time of relative peace and in a Golden Age of Middle-earth, the series chronicles the forging of the iconic Rings of Power, the rise of the evil dark Lord Sauron, the rise and fall of the Island Kingdom of Numenor, and the climactic battle of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.

Prime Video connects sports fans even closer to the players and the games they love, premiering exclusive coverage of Thursday Night Football, starting with a powerhouse AFC West matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers on September 15.

Get ready to sleep with the lights on after watching Goodnight Mommy, where twin brothers discover something different about their now bandaged-up mother, played by Naomi Watts. More scares await with My Best Friend’s Exorcism when an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong for two best friends. In the Italian coming-of-age drama series Prisma, twins Marco and Andrea go on a joyful and unruly journey of individual self discovery. Flight / Risk documents two Boeing 737 Max plane crash tragedies through the perspective of affected family members, their legal teams, whistleblowers, and Pulitzer-winning Seattle Times journalist Dominic Gates. Jungle follows the connected lives of several strangers, each facing their own struggle, viewed through the prism of U.K. rap and drill music.

Hispanic Heritage Month brings you powerful storytelling with curated collections, including several Amazon Originals such as Being the Ricardos, Los Tigres del Norte, Noticia de un secuestro, and much more! Look out for a celebratory newsletter and landing page highlighting all the best titles to honor Hispanic and Latino voices coming in early September.

New on Amazon Freevee this month include award-winning films such as Sam Mendes’ World War 1 epic 1917, the inspirational and impactful Hidden Figures, and the intense yet beautiful Whiplash, ready to stream September 1.

Finding all the content you love is even easier with the new Prime Video experience available now on connected living room devices and the Android app.

WHAT’S COMING IN SEPTEMBER

New Amazon Originals

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.
