I always enjoy my weekly trip back to the 1980’s with The Goldbergs. Last week Adam won a radio contest to throw out the first pitch at a Philadelphia Phillies game, but he gave it to Barry on the condition that he would play interference whenever Beverly went in for a snuggle. Once Murray heard about Barry’s opportunity, he was so proud, and got so blinded by living out his own dreams that he started encouraging and feeding Barry’s delusion that he was going to dazzle the Phillies with his arm. Meanwhile, Erica, her roommate, and Lainey all had their own delusion. They decided that they were going to drop out of college and start a band, The Tangles. However, they didn’t realize that their “original” song was just a rip-off of a Joan Jett tune.
While her band didn’t work out, Erica still decided that college was not for her. How will Murray and Beverly react to this news? And what other crazy adventures will the Goldbergs get up to this week? One of the things I always enjoy about this show is seeing Adam’s excitement over movies and other pop culture things I also enjoyed as a kid, and tonight that’s Spaceballs and Pictionary—and it sounds like there may be a fun special guest who pops up in tonight’s episode (though maybe just his voice).
In tonight’s episode, “Spaceballs”, Adam tries to start a Mel Brooks club after he sees the movie Spaceballs; Jackie mistakes his club advertisement for political satire and puts it in the school paper; Beverly and Pops visit Erica for parent’s weekend; Murray tags along.
Tonight I’ll also be watching/recording Alex, Inc., Modern Family, American Housewife, Designated Survivor, Survivor, The Blacklist, The Americans, Archer, The Expanse, and Krypton.
