I loved the first two seasons of the IFC comedy The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, and was so disappointed when it looked like it was all over. However, after going on hiatus for a few years, the series is back for a third season, which will premiere on Thursday, January 7, 2016 with the first three episodes of the six-episode series airing back-to-back beginning at 10pm ET/PT. And the remaining three episodes will air the following week on Thursday, January 14 at 10pm ET/PT.
From the creative mind of Emmy® Award winner Cross, this tale of an American’s business snafus in London picks up after Todd Margaret reluctantly blew up the world at the close of season two. Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) joins the cast while guest stars Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners 2), Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), Amber Tamblyn (Two and a Half Men) and Russ Tamblyn (Django Unchained) return to the series playing familiar characters… with a twist.
“Since we last saw Todd Margaret, which we thought was actually the last time we’d see him, this show has become a favorite among comedy fans,” commented Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president. “Only David Cross could write his way around destroying the world to resurrect this character and story in a way that’s mind blowing and completely hilarious.”
Throughout the first two seasons, Todd Margaret bluffs his way into a senior sales position heading up the London office for the new energy drink Thunder Muscle, instigates a biohazard emergency at a major grocery store, gets swindled out of his Thunder Muscle stock by Turkish terrorists, disgraces a national tribute to fallen soldiers, gets arrested for breaking into Parliament, and, at the conclusion of season two, inadvertently blows up the world. In season three, fans will meet a very different Todd as the creators guide them on a journey where nothing is what it seems.
The trailer for the new season promises “a very, very different Todd Margaret”, and I’m excited to see what that means (besides the obvious physical changes).
If you haven’t seen the series before, there’s still time to catch up before the new season! All of the episodes of the first two seasons are currently available on Netflix.
