I was so excited when I found out that I had won tickets to a special Breaking Bad Fan Appreciation Party at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While I was a little disappointed that this was going to overlap with the Doctor Who panel, that was short-lived. SDCC is full of choices and trade-offs—there’s no way you can possibly see everything, and this was one of the easiest choices of the weekend to make!

I woke up early (and I do mean early!) Sunday morning and checked out of my hotel. Then I made my way to the end of the Hall H line, which wasn’t an easy task, even 6 hours before the day’s panels! After the Supernatural panel, it was time for Breaking Bad, which was a lot of fun. Bryan Cranston came out wearing a realistic-looking Heisenberg mask, and then proceeded to put it over his microphone and spent the rest of the panel speaking into his own mouth.

Once the panel was done, it was time for me to rush over to the Hard Rock to get in line for the fan event.

While the ticket winners waited in line to get our autographs from the cast, their guests entered the party and started enjoying the festivites. The bartenders were dressed up in yellow hazmat suits and we were given drink tickets for a special Blue Meth Martini served in a beaker. There was also a station where you could dress up in a white hazmat suit and get your picture taken in a promo shot for the series.

Once I made my way to the front of the autograph line, I was given a copy of Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” along with a poster to get signed.

First up was Bob Odenkirk. I asked him about the rumored Better Call Saul spin-off series, and he seemed very hopeful. Then I made my way down the line meeting Aaron Paul, Vince Gilligan, and RJ Mitte. I asked RJ if Walt Junior was going to take over the family business, but he wouldn’t say. Finally, I got to met Anna Gunn and Walter White himself, Bryan Cranston. Unfortunately, Betsy Brandt was not at SDCC and Dean Norris’ Under the Dome panel overlapped with the event.

As I exited the autograph line, I was handed a vial of Blue Meth rock candy. I got my drink from the bar, and the got in the long line for the picture station. As the picture line was winding down, the event was also ending and things were being cleaned up. They were giving away the place cards from the autograph panel, and I was lucky enough to score Vince Gilligan’s!

Overall, it was a really run event, and certainly the highlight of my Comic-Con experience. It was so awesome getting to meet the cast from my favorite TV series. I’m so excited to see how the series ends!
