After drug dealer Sterling (Angus Cloud, Euphoria)gets robbed of his stash by some rich kids he was trying to sell to, he heads into a nearby convenience store to try to figure out his next move—if he returns to his boss with nothing, he’s a dead man. He overhears a rich, white guy (Spencer Garrett) being a dick to Arabic shop owner Amir (Mousa Hussein Kraish), making racist comments as he scans his Mega Ball tickets. The man starts obnoxiously celebrating as he discovers that he has won the $156 million grand prize. Sterling thinks his luck has changed—this could be the solution to his problems! He quickly makes himself a makeshift mask and pulls a gun on the winner, demanding that he give him the winning ticket. But the man isn’t going to just hand over $156 million, and a commotion ensues. Sterling hasn’t really thought everything through, and a young, inexperienced cop (Sterling Beaumon) in the bathroom overhears the screaming and comes out with his gun blazing, accidentally firing into the ticket owner as Sterling returns fire, hitting the cop.
Besides the shop owner, there are other witnesses to the event, including a pregnant Ana Marlene (Jessica Garza) and her boyfriend Abraham (Elliot Knight), who had just come in to get some ice cream. Now they are all being held hostage while Sterling figures out how to handle the situation. The hostages try to convince Sterling that he needs them—if he kills them all, there will be too many questions when he tries to cash in the ticket. So he convinces the witnesses to help him clean up the scene, erase the security cam footage, and come up with a new narrative, in exchange for a cut of the winnings. But as they start to enact this plan, more complications arise, as well as some seeds of distrust. $156 million is a lot of money, a sum that people would do almost anything for, including murder! But just how much blood are they willing to shed for this money?
Your Lucky Day is an exciting thriller that keeps you guessing, and riveted to your seat the whole time. There are lots of exciting twists and turns throughout. Just when you think you know where the story is going, there’s another twist or reveal to shake things up. There are several interested parties who will stop at nothing to get their hands on this winning ticket! Angus Cloud (in what I assume is his final role), plays a character very much like the one he did on Euphoria—this drug dealer who has had a hard life, but deep down he does seem to have a heart. Cloud is such a wonderful actor and great in this role—he will be sadly missed. Jessica Garza is also fantastic as Ana Marlene, the pregnant hostage. Ana is the type of person who has seen way too many cop tv shows and movies, and is able to instantly come up with the perfect narrative to help explain away and get away with a crime. As the situation worsens, she is easily able to adapt and find ways to make herself vital and useful.
While the film is primarily an action/thriller, ratcheting up the drama throughout, it also throws in some really fun, humorous moments to help break that tension. the filmmakers also take the time to flesh out each of these characters, delving into their backstories, explaining why each could use the winnings, and their motivations for putting their morals aside and agreeing to partake in this plan.
Well Go’s Blu-ray looks and sounds great. The video has a solid level of detail, while also providing this gritty, somewhat washed-out look, to help set the tone of the film. The events primarily take place at night, and mainly inside the convenience store, but even in the darker scenes, the blacks are strong throughout. The audio track provides clear dialogue, and makes nice use of the surround channel to give an immersive feel—whether it’s the ambiance of the store, alarms, shootouts, or just general commotion, the sound feels full throughout.
Well Go’s Blu-ray release is a barebones, just including the film’s trailer and some previews for three other Well Go films as bonus material. The Blu-ray comes packed in a locking HD keepcase. There is no digital copy, but our review copy did include a nice cardboard slipcover.

Final Thoughts:
Your Lucky Day is a throughly-entyertaining, suspense-filled thriller with lots of exciting twists and turns. It features some excellent performances, especially from Angus Cloud in one of the actor’s final roles. Well Go’s Blu-ray release features a solid audio/video presentation, but is barebones when it comes to bonus material. That said, the release still comes highly recommended based on the quality of the film itself.
