My final day of San Diego Comic-Con 2023 was mostly filled with revisiting things I had previously gone to the other days.
Quantum Leap HQ Activation Redux
Since my Chucky video didn’t work the first time around, I decided to join some friends doing their early press time at the Quantum Leap activation. They hadn’t yet experienced it, so it was also fun to see their reactions. This time, the Chucky part did work, and you can see that and some new photos below, and for a longer description of the activation, see my previous write-up and videos in my Day 2 recap post.
Convention Floor Redux
Next, I decided to hit the convention floor one more time to see if there was anything I missed. First I stopped by Comedy Central’s Digman booth again to get the 360 degree photo opp (and free pins).
Then I walked around and checked out Paramount’s Good Burger 2 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles booths, the Doctor Who booth, and LEGO’s fun Blockbuster Video-inspired booth.
On the way back to my hotel, I saw a Topo Chico van handing out free bottles of water and guitar picks, so I stopped by there.
Paramount Lodge Redux
Finally, I revisited the Paramount Lodge with some friends, aiming to complete the activities I didn’t get to do the first time around. For the details on my first visit, check out my Day 3 Recap post.
As soon as we were let in, I immediately headed to get in line for the Star Trek caricature station, and was handed a ticket with my position number. As a Good Burger employee passed by with a tray of cheeseburgers, I immediately cashed in my ticket—I wasn’t going to get shut out this time—and enjoyed my burger while waiting in line.
Once it was my turn for the caricature, I told the artist my selections: Alien: Vulcan Ears and Brows, Starfleet Uniform: Lower Decks, and Props: Lower Decks Tricorder, and then tried to sit as still as possible as she made her sketch. A few minutes later, I was handed my drawing.
With some time left, I decided to try the Yellowjackets photo opp again, but since it was pretty much the same time of day as the last time, I still couldn’t get the effect to work. At least I got another deck of cards. I also snagged a snazzy Good Burger 2 paper hat while waiting in line.
Afterwards, my friends and I headed to Bar Basic pizza for a final lunch together before heading off to the airport. It was another fun, but different Comic-Con, and I look forward to seeing what next year brings (hopefully more celebs!).
