Hulu has released more details about the exciting and immersive activation they have planned for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Hulu’s new sub-brand, Hulu Animayhem, spotlights Hulu’s massive catalog of adult animation and anime content, which includes over 20,000 episodes across both genres. Hulu will be showcasing many of these popular series at this year’s SDCC. The Hulu Animayhem activation will be an opportunity for fans at San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate the world of Adult Animation, and immerse themselves in this Hulu content.
From July 20 to 23, Hulu will be taking over the Bayfront Parking Lot at SDCC with the Hulu Animayhem experience, where fans can immerse themselves in many of Hulu’s great Adult Animation offerings from 11:30am-7pm (July 20), 9:30am-7pm (July 21-22) and 9:30am-5pm (July 23).
Hulu is setting themselves apart from the SDCC crowd by using 2D drawing styles and optical illusions to create a 3D activation that feels comically flat and delightfully out-of-whack—just like the Hulu Animayhem shows fans know and love.
Two of the Adult Animated series that will be returning to Hulu soon are Futurama and Solar Opposites (two of my personal favorites).
Good News, Everyone! Futurama is BACK for a new season, with the full original cast (John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr, Tress MacNeille, Lauren Tom, and Dave Herman) returning! The new season will premiere on Monday, July 24, 2023 with one episode, and new episodes will be released weekly on Mondays on Hulu.
Season 11 Synopsis: After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.
Also returning soon for its fourth season is Solar Opposites, which premieres on August 14, 2023 with 10 episodes, followed by a Valentine’s Day Special coming in 2024. As previously announced, Dan Stevens has joined the cast as the new voice of Korvo, and the way this is introduced is hilarious and perfectly on brand!
Solar Opposites centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Dan Stevens) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love TV, junk food and fun stuff. On season four, we pack up the sci-fi and get normal … for a second. Then it’s back to classic Solar chaos, mayhem in the Wall, and some all new Silvercops adventures! Solar Opposites is executive produced by Mike McMahan and Josh Bycel. The series is produced by 20th Television Animation.
At the Hulu Animayhem activation, attendees will be transported into an alluring 2D world where they can interact their favorite Adult Animation hits including:
