ATX TV Festival Announces Opening Night Event featuring the World Premiere of FX’s Justified: City Primeval, First Look Panel with Outlander Cast & Creatives for “World Outlander Day,” and “Dawson’s Creek” 25th Anniversary Panel presented by Sony Pictures Television Studios

Austin, TX — ATX TV Festival has announced that Opening Night of Season 12 (June 1-4, 2023) will feature the World Premiere of FX’s Justified: City Primeval from showrunners/
executive producers Dave Andron and Michael Dinner. Based on the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, the eight-part limited series picks up 15 years after U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) left the hollers of Kentucky in FX’s Justified. Extending the Elmore Leonard universe and featuring an all new cast of characters, a chance encounter on a Florida highway leads Givens to Detroit, where he crosses paths with violent sociopath Clement Mansell, aka “The Oklahoma Wildman” (Boyd Holbrook) and his formidable defense attorney (Aunjanue Ellis). Following the screening will be a conversation with the creatives and cast. Justified: City Primeval premieres this summer on FX, streaming next day on Hulu. Season 12 will also include a Dawson’s Creek 25th Anniversary Screening and Conversation presented by Sony Pictures Television Studios. The retrospective will give fans a chance to relive the seminal pilot episode on the big screen, followed by a look back at the iconic teen drama with the creatives behind the series. Confirmed panelists include writers/producers Liz Tigelaar (Tiny Beautiful Things, Little Fires Everywhere), Rina Mimoun (Mistresses, Everwood), Gina Fattore (Dare Me, Parenthood), Anna Fricke (Walker, Being Human), Maggie Friedman (Firefly Lane, Witches of East End), and moderator Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals), with additional panelists to be announced soon.
In celebration of “World Outlander Day” on June 1, Opening Day of the festival will feature a conversation with the cast & creatives of Outlander , including an exclusive first look at the long-awaited seventh season, which returns to Starz on June 16. Confirmed panelists will be announced soon.
Also joining the line-up is a conversation with actors and spouses Ted Danson (Mr. Mayor, The Good Place) and Mary Steenburgen (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, The Last Man on Earth), who will join each other one-on-one to discuss their overall TV careers, and their relationship as two creatives who have worked separately and together over the last three decades.
The festival will also include a conversation with the brilliant women of The Good Doctor , from ABC and Sony Pictures Television studios. Co-showrunner/executive producer Liz Friedman, executive producer Erin Gunn, and cast members Christina Chang, Fiona Gubelmann, and Bria Samoné Henderson will highlight some of the series’ most impactful storylines, discuss what it takes to work in front of and behind the camera, and tease what’s to come.
Amazon Freevee joins the festival’s line-up with a screening for original comedy Primo , from New York Times best-selling author Shea Serrano and Emmy-winning producer Michael Schur (The Good Place, Parks and Recreation). The coming-of-age, single-camera comedy, inspired by Serrano’s life growing up in San Antonio, TX, follows Rafa Gonzales, a wide-eyed 16-year-old being raised by his clever mother, Drea, and his five overbearing uncles (Rollie, Mike, Ryan, Jay, and Mondo) as they live their lives on the southside of San Antonio. Following the screening, executive producer Shea Serrano will join stars Ignacio Diaz-Silverio (The Good Fight) and Christina Vidal (The Terminal List, Taina) for a conversation about the series, which premieres May 19.
Amazon Freevee will also host an inside look at Jury Duty, the docu-style comedy series premiering April 7 from producers of The Office, Bad Trip, and The White Lotus. Showrunner/
executive producer Cody Heller, executive producer Nicholas Hatton, executive producer David Bernad, and casting director Susie Farris will take viewers inside the process crafting the genre-bending comedy, from pitch, to screen, to final verdict. Universal Studio Group returns to the festival with “Funny AF,” a panel conversation featuring the stars and creatives behind the studio’s slate of critically acclaimed comedies. The panel will feature creator/showrunner/executive producer Shea Serrano (Primo), actor Joel Kim Booster (Loot), actor Jerrie Johnson (Harlem), and co-creator/
showrunner/ writer/ executive producer Sam Means (Mulligan). The festival will also feature the World Premiere of Season 2 of Everyone Is Doing Great, followed by a conversation with the creatives and cast. James Lafferty (One Tree Hill), Stephen Colletti (One Tree Hill), Alexandra Park (The Royals) and Cariba Heine (H20: Just Add Water) will join for a discussion on the independently produced coming-of-age sitcom and how their characters are pulled back together in the second season as they grapple with the fallout of love, loss and fame.
The festival’s Cheers 30th Anniversary Panel has also added John Ratzenberger, who will join fellow cast members Ted Danson and George Wendt, as well as co-creators James Burrows, Les Charles, and Glen Charles for the event. The group will reflect on the series’ decade-long run, its definitive place in TV history, and provide an insider look into the beloved show.
The Righteous Gemstones cast members John Goodman , Adam Devine , Edi Patterson and Cassidy Freeman will join creator, writer, executive producer, and actor Danny McBride for the Season 3 Premiere of the HBO original comedy, with additional panelists to be announced soon.
