We Baby Bears is a prequel to the the popular Cartoon Network series We Bare Bears, following the adventures of Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear when they were just babies. As the series opens, the bears are kicked out by their landlord with nothing but their magic box. However, they soon discover that the box can teleport to different worlds, and so they use it to begin their search for the perfect new home.
Each episode finds the bears teleporting to some new, unknown world, going on a wild adventure as they test out their latest potential new home. However, there’s usually some danger or issue to overcome at each new location. During their journeys, the bears encounter all kinds of creatures, including pixies, giants, ghosts, mermaids, cavemen, talking vegetables, pirates, bugs, living piñatas, and all sorts of animals. While some of these creatures pose a danger, others are in need of help, and the bears are always willing to do so.
A narrator opens and closes each episode, which run just 11 and a half minutes long. Each adventure is fast-paced and a bit manic (but in a fun way). But despite the short runtime, there is often enough time to squeeze in a musical montage.
This DVD release includes the first 20 episodes of the first season, which originally aired on Cartoon Network in January 2022. While the series airs in HD on Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. has only given the series a DVD release. However, the DVD picture quality is quite good, with bright, beautiful colors. The anime-like style animation is generally very clean with solid Lines. Only a stereo audio track is offered on the DVD, so the show doesn’t have an immersive surround sound, but dialogue remains clear throughout, and the on-screen action still sounds quite satisfying and full.
All 20 episodes reside on a single disc, which is placed inside a standard-sized DVD case. There is no bonus material or digital copy included.

We Baby Bears is a fun, fast-paced follow-up, following younger versions of the We Bare Bears characters as they travel randomly from world to world going on wild new adventures. Warner Bros.’ DVD release looks and sounds great, but doesn’t include any bonus material. The disc makes for a fun binge, and episodes are definitely rewatchable. Recommended for fans of the original series, or those just looking for a fun animated show.
