The second season of Syfy’s post-apocalyptic vampire hunter series Van Helsing premieres this September, but for those looking to catch up or revisit the series, the first season will be made available on Netflix soon.
Van Helsing is set in the near future, where vampires have risen and taken control. Vanessa Van Helsing is humanity’s last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires. Van Helsing comes from the producers of Fargo and Hell on Wheels. Acclaimed director/playwright Neil LaBute serves as showrunner.
In the press room for the series at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we got to speak with creator/showrunner Neil LaBute, executive producers Mike Frislev & Chad Oakes, stars Christopher Heyerdahl (“Sam”), Paul Johansson (“Dmitri”) & Aleks Paunovic (“Julius”), and newcomer Missy Peregrym (“Scarlett Harker”). Actors Jonathan Scarfe (“Axel”) & Rukiya Bernard (“Doc”) were also in the room, but unfortunately they never made it around to our table before the time ran out.
