What if two directors were given the same script and the opportunity to make a film from the source material however they envisioned? How different would the results be? And what kind of struggles would these first-time feature directors face during the process? That is exactly what the new Starz series The Chair sets out to discover as it premieres Saturday, September 6th at 11 pm ET/PT.

Created by Chris Moore, Executive Producer of Emmy®-nominated “Project Greenlight” and Co-Producer of Oscar®-winning Good Will Hunting, the series documents two first-time filmmakers, Anna Martemucci and Shane Dawson, who have been given the opportunity to direct their first feature film. The up-and-coming directors, with very different artistic perspectives and skill sets, are provided with an identical screenplay and challenged to create their own film. In addition to Moore, Martemucci and Dawson receive guidance from Before the Door founders/producers Zachary Quinto (“American Horror Story,” “Star Trek,” “Heroes”), Corey Moosa, Neal Dodson, as well as the script’s original producer, Josh Shader.

The docu-series aims to capture the struggle, triumph, determination and fearlessness of filmmaking in this one-of-a-kind experiment that can only be seen on STARZ.
