Hitting DVD and Blu-ray this week are the latest seasons of a pair of Showtime’s Dramedies.
First there’s Weeds: Season Seven. After a lackluster 4th and 5th season, Weeds really came back as strong and as fun as those first few seasons. Season 7 finds Nancy being placed in a halfway house in New York City after spending time in jail for the murder of Pilar. The rest of the family soon find their way back from Copenhagen to join her. And once again the family finds themselves doing what they do best–taking over the local drug business. This release comes loaded with extras, including Cast and Crew Commentaries, a Gag Reel, Deleted Scenes, Multi Screen Comparisons and bunch of featurettes.
And secondly, there’s Nurse Jackie: Season Three. At the end of last season, Jackie’s best friend and husband put the pieces together about her pill-popping ways and confronted her about her addiction. However, Jackie’s not going to let that intervention stop her, and soon returns to her old vices. This release contains extra features such as Cast and Crew Commentaries, featurettes, a Gag Reel and Deleted Scene.
Finally, also hitting both DVD and Blu-ray today is The Fades: Series One, which just finished airing on BBC America this past weekend. The series follows a young man who is haunted by apocalyptic dreams and starts seeing the spirits of the dead all around him. While I haven’t seen the series myself, I’ve heard great things about the series and look forward to checking it out in HD. The extras on this release consist of a Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, Deleted Scenes and Outtakes.
